Last Saturday night, the Amsoil USAC/CRA Sprint Car Series kicked off their ninth season of action with the "Sokola Shootout" at Perris Auto Speedway. When it was all over, Nic Faas of Huntington Beach had a night to remember. The young driver not only won the 30-lap feature, he swept the show, earning the "Dean Thompson Award" and broke the 1-lap track record set by Damion Gardner on October 31,

FAAS OPENS 2012 WITH “SOKOLA SHOOTOUT” VICTORY AT THE PAS FEBRUARY
25, 2012... Nic Faas of Huntington Beach, Calif., the 2008 AMSOIL USAC/CRA Sprint Car “Rookie of the Year” and 2011 series runner-up, flashed past leader Ryan Bernal on lap 23 and led the final eight laps of Saturday night’s 30-lap “Sokola Shootout” 2012 series opener at the Perris Auto Speedway. Faas earlier broke a nine-year-old track qualifying record in his Mark Alexander Scott Sales Company/VP Racing Fuels entry. Ryan Bernal finished second after leading the first 22 laps of the race. Matt Mitchell took third ahead of defending 4-time USAC/CRA Champion Mike Spencer and pole starter Cory Kruseman.
